The Transferable Belt-Fed Heavy Machine Gun for sale itself is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. The original bluing is in stupendous condition for a weapon that is 100+ years old, with only minor handling and wear marks on the rough edges. The metalwork is in fantastic condition with no corrosion, cracks, gouges, malformations, etc. Overall finish is roughly 97%, with only minor wear and handling marks noted. There are some minor dings in the metal to be noted on the barrel shroud, but nothing that would be any cause for concern, and nothing that penetrates the bluing of the metal. This is an original production gun, and is not a side plate, reweld, or reactivated DEWAT.
The sled itself is in excellent functional condition, but does not some cosmetic flaws in the painted finish, as well as some minor corrosion marks on the unfinished tools. The included prism sight is also in excellent mechanical condition, with only minor, period-correct cosmetic marks in the finish. The small pieces of leather that make up the end cap and eye piece are intact, but have no malleability left, and for all intents and purposes are without flex.

German MG 34 8mm Mauser C&R Eligible Belt-Fed General-Purpose Machine Gun
This Chester County Armory listing is for an original, German-made, MG 34 belt-fed general-purpose machine gun chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser (aka 8mm Mauser).
Recognized world-wide as the first truly general-purpose machine gun ever designed, the German MG 34 was, and still is to this day, one of the most recognized and utilized belt-fed GPMG’s ever developed. Designed in 1934 and first placed in service in 1939 by the German military, the MG 34 often stroked fear in the hearts of the those on the receiving end of the model on the battlefield throughout the early parts of WW2 due to its distinctive chatter upon operation. While the MG 34 performed magnificently on the battlefield for Germany, the model was an expensive, complicated, and time-consuming production weapon to be produced. By the end of WW2, production of the MG 34 was eventually overtaken by the German MG 42 which was a significantly easier and cheaper model for the German military to build and use.
This particular, C&R eligible model is all German made. The receiver features a fairly low 2918 serial number and is Waffenamt marked with “WaA4.” The trunnion is 1943 dated and “dot” marked. The serialized parts of this weapon are not matching numbers, however, all of the major parts on this MG 34 are marked with an additional stamp of the number “22”, indicating that this MG 34 was an arsenal rebuild version made by German armorers during the war. These military armorers were crafting as many serviceable machine guns as they could to meet demand out of any and all available original parts, both new and used. The parts that are “22” marked on this model include the receiver, bolt carrier, trunnion, barrel shroud, top cover, feed tray, trigger mechanism, stock and locking collar.
Overall, this weapon is in fantastic condition given its age and provenance. Mechanically, the metalwork is in wonderful physical condition, with no dents, dings, cracks, malformations, etc. All mechanisms operate appropriately and note no functional concerns, whatsoever. The bore remains fairly shiny and the rifling is still visible and intact. The bolt face is clean and crisp and the action moves smoothly and freely.
Cosmetically, this 85+ year old model has a very large amount of its original finish remaining, with some parts having patinaed to an eye-pleasing auburn and gray finish. The model does note considerable handling and use marks, but no major points of concern either physical or cosmetic are noted in the metalwork. The stock does display some surface indentations and some minor chips in the wood, but no cracks or splits are observed.
Purchase of this model will include six original 50rd metal belts (not pictured).
This fully transferable, C&R eligible belt-fed general-purpose machine gun is currently on a Form 3 for easy eForm transfer. The current NFA paperwork lists “Form 2 Registration” as the manufacturer of this registered machine gun and “MG34” as the model.
